VB Seed Criteria

TOURNAMENT DRAW MEETINGS

I. VERBAL VOTING PROCEDURE

A. All entered teams will be seeded by coaches’ vote prior to any teams being place on the bracket.
B. Every coach or school representative must vote for a team for each seed, No Abstentions.
C. Voting will be by a ballot, seeding all teams one at a time and beginning with the #1 seed by each coach or representative.
D. The Tournament Manager will verbalize each ballot reading the team that voted and the team that received the vote.
E. The team that receives the most votes for the seed that is being voted will receive that seed.  A team cannot refuse a seed once the vote is completed.
F. If a tie exists between teams with the same number of votes, a second ballot will be voted after more discussion of the involved teams.  The second ballot voting procedure will be the same as the first ballot.  If a tie still exists, a flip of the coin will determine the higher seed.

II. PROCEDURE FOR PLACING TEAMS ON THE BRACKET

A. After all teams have been seeded by a coaches vote bracketing may begin.
B. The #1 seeded team can place themselves on the bracket or pass.
C. Seeds #2, #3 and #4 can place themselves on the bracket or pass.
D. Only the top 4 seeded teams will be able to pass on their bracket placement.
E. When any team chooses a line, any of the top 4 seeded teams that have passed will have a chance to place themselves on the bracket or pass again and await the next selection.  This will be the procedure until all of the top 4 seeds are placed.
F. The top 4 seeded teams must be in a different quarter bracket.
G. Seed #5 thru the final seeded team must place themselves on any open line when it is their turn to select.  (No passing allowed for seeds #5 thru final seeded team)
H. Each school representative will have 5 minutes to place themselves on the bracket.
I. When the number of teams that qualify from Sectional to District competition is more or less than four (4) teams, adjustments will be made at the tournament draw.
J. If a team is not represented at the tournament draw meeting the following procedures must be followed:  Top 4 seeded team is treated as a pass then placed in the last quarter bracket available.  Any team not in the top 4 seeds would be placed on the bracket last.  If more than one team is not represented, and are not in the top 4 seeds, teams would be placed on the bracket in alphabetical order.

III. OHSAA TOURNAMENT BRACKET TEMPLATES

A. OHSAA tournament bracket templates must be used at the tournament draw for the number of teams that are entered in the tournament.
B. The top line on the bracket will be the HOME team, bottom line will be VISITORS.
